Cable
Broadband Internet Access
(US & UK)
Cable internet access is received through a digital cable TV line to
your PC by means of a cable modem. Cable internet, like DSL, does not
require a telephone line and it provides you with an 'always-on'
internet connection. Cable internet does not interfere with your TV
transmissions since cable internet access uses different cable
frequencies then that of your cable television system. A single Cable
internet connection can be shared among multiple users in your
neighborhood.
In some areas there may be two kinds of cable service offered. One uses
a normal cable modem to connect to a computer, and the other type uses
an enhanced cable box that provides Internet access directly at the TV.
Within the UK, cable broadband internet access is often packaged with
digital TV programming and telephone services...
